Seminars for Teachers on Character and Pure Love education

The Chinese government has given new emphasis on moral education in schools, and many schools are struggling to find their way in the area of sexual health education, pulled between conservative traditions and the influence of liberal ideas from the West. Our co-sponsors believe it is time to renew our efforts in presenting the values taught by IEF, and thus proposed that we start a new series of seminars on character and sexual health education throughout the country. We thus started a new series of seminars for school principals and teachers in several of Beijing districts. All were supervised and attended by district level education officials.

The seminars were co-sponsored by the China Education Experts Committee, an organization led by Mr. Sun Xuece, the former Director of the Ministry of Education’s Moral Education Bureau. The organizers and speakers also included Dr Li Shunxing, the former Secretary General of the China Educational Association of International Exchange and Mr. Liu Yongzeng, former Deputy Editor in Chief of China Education News.

These seminars included the following

Seminar in Beijing Dongcheng District (November 3, 2004) - Attended by 200 schoolteachers, representing more than 80 different schools from Beijing districts.

Seminars in Beijing Tongzhou District (March 16, 2005) - Attended by 200 teachers representing the 37 middle schools and 125 primary schools of the district.

Seminar in Beijing Daxing District (March 17, 2005) - Attended by over 300 school principals, vice principals and teachers in charge of moral education, representing the 44 middle schools and 192 primary schools of the district.

Seminar in Beijing’s Fengtai and (April 27, 2005) - Attended by 250 teachers representing all the middle schools of the district.

Seminar in Beijing Xuanwu District (April 28, 2005) - Attended by 200 participants

Seminar in Beijing Fangshan District (May 19, 2005) - Attended by 300 schoolteachers.

In addition to these seminars for school teachers, IEF China held seminars at Beijing Capital Normal University and the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics
